14 Beloved Video Games That Criminally Never Got Sequels

5. Psychonauts

Tim Schafer's first major work in seven years following Grim Fandango, Psychonauts tells the story of a young 'Psycadet' Raz, a small bug-like creature in a world of Dreamworks-style animated characters, with a core gameplay mechanic that saw levels created from actually diving into their minds. Schafer's work is always overflowing with character and originality, and for many outside his original run of Monkey Island titles this is the best one yet. Which is why it's a real shame that the world of Psychonauts hasn't seen any reprisals or even an HD touch-up. From the world itself that sees every aspect of an NPCs personality brought to life for your interaction in-game, to the real-world happenings around the camp that you and your fellow cadets are experiencing, the whole thing would be too crazy if not for the conviction Schafer puts into every facet of his work, making what could remain as a one-off so memorable today.
