14 Beloved Video Games That Criminally Never Got Sequels

7. Vanquish

You probably know Platinum Games for their work on either the ladypart-flailing Bayonetta series, or their fantastic take on the Metal Gear lore with the cyborg-Raiden-fronted Metal Gear Rising, but another title that should really be up there with the best of them is Vanquish. Playing like a more over-the-top sci-fi Gears of War on speed, Vanquish gives you near unlimited access to twin-jet-boosters that you could then use to dart across the battlefield in a manner that's not been seen in other third-person shooters. Chaining together multiple boosts whilst switching between a plethora of satisfyingly weighty weapons could lead to one giant blur of carnage, and as everything slows to a crawl when aiming, watching the whole battlefield warp around you as you line-up a mech-felling rocket shot is a feeling that's totally unique. Add in the now-trademark Platinum ridiculousness in the form of some Quick-Time Events that see you punch the head clean off one of earlier bosses, and even though this was a failure on shelves, it remains the next best third-person shooter up there with Gears and Uncharted. Yes, it's that good.
