9. Freezeezy Peak - Banjo-Kazooie

Mario 64 may get all the glory for third-person platforming thanks to releasing a year before Rare's masterpiece would've then changed the industry all the same, but Banjo Kazooie's loveable combo of cutesy characters and pixel-perfect platforming is arguably the better game anyway. In terms of pure visual design, the variation level-to-level in Banjo is still a major selling point and Freezeezy Peak is one of the best.

Almost every third-person platformer has a winter or snow level, but Rare had took it a step further, letting you take flight and see the massive environment from the sky, breathing in everything from an evil snowball-flinging Snowman to the baubles that adorned a whopping great Christmas tree in the corner. Thankfully, some members of Rare are putting out Yooka-Laylee in 2016, which looks to be a righteous return to form from some of the finest minds in the business.
