14 Best SNES Games You Might Have Missed
12. Terranigma
The first Enix game on this list, Terranigma boasts the uncommon title of not being published in America, much to their annoyance.
Set in a world of light and dark worlds, starting out with familiar "save the hometown" leanings, before moving on to global annihilation prevention which by today's standards is par for the course. But for the SNES era, we didn't have such a massive selection of this scale at the time. Throw in some parallel worlds, duality and the nature of id and you've got a strong story.
Taking visual and combat cues from other action RPG's like the seminal Link to the Past and Secret of Mana, as well as Secret of Evermore and Illusion of Time/Gaia, it was a cracking title for its time.
Developer Quintet had crafted a certain look for themselves with their handful of games, with Terranigma being their proverbial swansong for the SNES, before moving on to 3D-focused consoles.
Physical copies of this game are neither easy nor cheap to come by, but if you do have the desire to fill that Zelda-fueled itch, Terranigma is a worthy game.
