14 Best SNES Games You Might Have Missed

10. Disney's The Lion King

Virgin Interactive

After the success of Capcom's faithful companion game to Aladdin a year prior, Virgin Interactive tried to make lightning strike twice for the tie-in game to Disney's next big hit.

For the most part, they did. Taking slight liberties with the story for the sake of padding levels out, the main structure was almost chronological with the film. Platforming across the Pridelands, evading hyenas in the elephant's graveyard and even getting involved with the musical section of "Can't Wait to Be King", it had the lot.

What it failed to mention, and caught many a young gamer out was how difficult it ramped up to after the first few levels. Platforming became races against time, levels became trickier and pads were getting thrown. If you were stubborn enough to reach the end, even the fight against Scar was no easy feat.

Reportedly it was developer Westwood's "best selling title to-date", and it's not hard to see why. For all the complains of difficulty, it was still fun to play. Especially when you know the words to the songs.
