14 Best SNES Games You Might Have Missed
6. Urban Strike
The third in the popular Strike series at the time, Urban Strike was the first to add new gameplay elements to its patented brand of chopper combat adventure games.
Continuing the standard of isometric warfare across ten missions, US carried on with its pseudo-real world political/cold war leanings with a fair sense of tongue in cheek and self-deprecation.
But with every sequel one should expect new features, and Urban Strike delivered. New vehicles to pilot, including a larger capacity helicopter for rescue missions, and well as ground-based vehicle actions to keep things fresh. The biggest addition (or deviation, depending on your viewpoint) was being to go on foot for some sections. It may not have been in the spirit of the original, but it was a nifty little addition to the formula.
Its controls were a bit janky, but with hindsight we didn't have the luxury of analogue thumbsticks to reflect on. The series has been dormant since the evolution into Future Cop LAPD back on the PSOne, so we're due some new airborne action.
