14 Brutally Hard PS4 & Xbox One Games You Can't Handle
9. N++
Speaking of things being charming, but with brutal cores propping them up, N++ takes the original's minimalist aesthetic and ups the ante in terms of dodging projectiles, crazier obstacles and triggering spots in a level to trigger the endpoint.
It all boils down to an exquisitely perfected physics model governing motion and momentum. Your tiny stick finger ninja moves perfectly every time; you need only realise how far they're going to 'overrun' depending on your actions, or how much hang-time you've got in mid-air to dodge a homing missile when changing direction, for example.
Like its predecessor, the opening smattering of levels for N++ semi-lightly eases you in. It's doable, learnable, exciting and somewhat unique - but what comes later will test both your reflexes, memorisation and mental fortitude as you're tasked with surviving some of the most 'bullet hell'-based levels seen in gaming thus far.
