14 Fan-Made Sonic Games That Succeed Where Sega Failed

8. Sonic Chrono Adventure

Sonic Chrono Adventure is the follow-up to Before/After the Sequel, designed by Felipe "LakeFeperd" Daneluz.

You may ask, "Why doesn't this game share a spot with Before/After?". That's because Chrono Adventure is way more ambitious, taking classic Sonic gameplay in a whole new path and direction that Sega's games have never considered. A 2D open world, much like Metroid.

While the soundtrack is mostly repeats from the previous games of the fan-trilogy, this game innovates an upgrade system that adds new special abilities to Sonic's repertoire, and takes Sonic into an entirely new genre of game with flying colours.

One thing that might turn people away is the inclusion of a much more intricate story. While the previous games had quick, silent, and inoffensive stories, this one takes the path of including text boxes and brand new characters.

While that might turn some people away, Chrono Adventure is still a Sonic adventure unlike no other, and one that's definitely worth experiencing.
