3. The Last Guardian

The second game on here that's been in development for 10 years, The Last Guardian emerged at E3 last year with - honestly - nary any noticeable improvements over its 2009 showing.

But let's stay positive here. This is from Team ICO, whose only other two games are ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, the latter of which tends to sit on many peoples' lists as one of the Best Games of All Time. To that end, gameplay still revolves around a lot of third-person exploration and climbing, except with a focus on nurturing and bonding with Trico - the hulking bird/dog-looking creature seen above.

There's almost a Pixar-like quality within the boy and Trico's relatively voiceless interactions so far, and if that level of charm can extend across the entire game and provide variety throughout, maybe The Last Guardian can be one of only a handful of games to emerge from development hell unscathed.
