14 Insane E3 2016 Announcements That Would Shock The World

9. PS4 Gets Backwards Compatibility

Half Life Resident Evil 6 Metroid Portal
Rockstar Games

The Announcement: Following in the footsteps of the Xbox One's fantastic backwards compatibility scheme, the PS4 will allow players who own both digital and physical copies of legacy games to download a new digital copy for their current console.

How Likely Is It?: Not at all. Sony is clearly moving forward with their subscription-based cloud gaming service PlayStation Now, so introducing backwards compatibility would completely derail it and be an embarrassing admission of failure.

It would be a fantastic alternative to Now for those who still own all their old games, but for fear of looking like they're copying Microsoft's brilliant PR move, it just won't happen, sadly.
