14 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2018 (So Far)

5. Kirby Star Allies

Kirby Star Allies
Nintendo

Kirby Star Allies is a breezy, colourful platforming romp, but for the character's first outing on the Switch it also feels a little piecemeal and insubstantial.

Leaning lazily on the established formula and adding little new to the mix while boasting an hilariously low level of difficulty and short play-time, it is a quintessential weekend rental that feels like highway robbery at a full-fat AAA price.

Co-op does give the game a much-needed boost - especially if you're playing with a few beers in tow - but even so, it's just too simple and inoffensive for its own good. Sure, it's designed with kids in mind, but so was Super Mario Odyssey, and that didn't stop it being an ingenious, visionary platformer.
