14 Most Hotly-Anticipated Video Games Of Summer 2016 - Ranked

5. The Banner Saga 2 (PS4/Xbox One)

The Banner Saga
Stoic

One of my Video Games of 2016 (So Far), Stoic's epic fantasy tale is coming to consoles in July. Gameplay is real-time strategy, with your attack values being linked to health, alongside forever taking into account an armour value that decreases how effective your blows will be.

It immediately changes how TBS plays, and for the sequel, even more additions have been made to character abilities, forcing you to think about the exact positioning of your units on the field.

Graphical presentation is stunning too, literally feeling like you could pause any frame and immediately have an image that could be hung on a wall or three. The cherry on top is the immaculate story, a truly dour tale of humans finding common ground with the ferocious Varl, as the two races face off against the seemingly unstoppable Dredge.

The Banner Saga is about finding beauty in darkness, and hope amongst despair - it's tone might not be the most welcoming, but that's precisely why every battle ends up feeling incredibly rewarding.
