Although The Simpsons Arcade game is already pretty weird enough as it is, due to you beating up just about anything and everything Simpsons-related in this classic 2D brawler, proceedings take a particularly surreal turn once you hit the stage aptly titled, Dreamland.

Suddenly, everything gets a bit weird for The Simpsons family as they find themselves in a classic cartoon dream inhabited by odd-ball enemies including demons, alien saxophones, and even a final end of the stage boss that comes in the shape of a giant bowling ball.

Although the rest of the game isn't exactly grounded in reality, this level in particular pushes The Simpsons to such strange places that its hard to not fall in love with the stage's quirky, imaginative design.

Even better, at the time of release, the weird blend of far-out surrealism and plain-odd character design hadn't become the mainstay of the show it is now, which made it all the more enjoyable to experience a part of the series that, up until then, had only rarely ever glimpsed.
