14 Most Underrated Open-World Games Of The Last 10 Years
12. Dead Rising 4
Dead Rising 4 isn't really a Dead Rising game. Sure, it stars series veteran Frank West and has, you know, about a million zombies to kill, but the core of what made the Dead Rising series so unique from a gameplay perspective is no longer present in this sequel.
But that's actually a good thing.
While other games in the franchise had you constantly working against a timer, restricting your ability to save and forcing you to play through the title multiple times to see the real ending that could only be unlocked through repeated trial and error, the most recent entry in the series strips all that away in favour of a more accessible experience.
And that streamlining of the Dead Rising franchise acted as a refreshing change of pace after a slew of sequels that only half-heartedly implemented these features anyway.
So while die-hard fans shunned the fourth game upon its release, Capcom's latest zombie beat 'em up is actually worth checking out. Featuring the same great over-the-top gameplay that you'd expect from the series, Dead Rising 4 finally let players off their leash to truly enjoy smashing zombie skulls in a way they could never dream of doing before.
