Finally, onto the good stuff. Child of Light was one of the first games to emerge from Ubisoft's new 'Ubi Art' division; a wing of the company set up to craft titles that would wow with their visuals and aesthetics, just as much as gameplay.

Child of Light more than succeeded. It looked gorgeous - seriously, pause any screenshot and you've got something you could hang on a living room wall. Where gameplay was concerned, this was a refreshing retro throwback to turn-based RPGs; a feature that nowhere near enough games in the genre tend to do these days.

With a heart-wrenching intro that effortlessly segues into exploring character Aurora's fractured psyche, there's an ethereal feel to piloting her across the landscape that sublimely compliments the ebb and flow of combat, alongside letting you become enveloped in the game itself, along the way.
