14 Video Game Franchises That Will Never Die
11. Assassin's Creed
For some reason, people seem to like Assassin's Creed. It has one of the most convoluted plots of all time, and the gameplay is stale and uninspired, but regardless it continues to outsell the competition every single year.
Why? Assassin's Creed has proven that it's a safe pair of hands; it's dull and repetitive, but at least you know what you're going to get. There's going to be plenty of content and plenty of places to explore, plenty of things to collect and plenty of hours to waste. Some of it might even be fun, at least briefly.
At this point, Assassin's Creed has established itself as the prototypical Ubisoft sandbox game. If you're put off by the likes of Far Cry or Watch Dogs, you can always go crawling back to the familiar safety of AssCreed for a moderate amount of enjoyment. For that reason, it will always serve a purpose, and will absolutely, positively, undoubtedly never ever die.
