14 Worst Video Game Boss Battles Of The Decade (So Far)

4. The Warden Eternal - Halo 5: Guardians

To truly champion a game as fantastic, you have to analyse all aspects within, good and bad. So, although Halo 5's overall feel and moveset is the most robust and satisfying the series has ever been, its marketing for the story has been immensely misleading, with the seven-times reused Warden boss just feeling lazy. Being the campaign was designed to be experienced in co-op with up to three other teammates, the Warden is reduced to having a massive weak spot on his back that occasionally pulsates, challenging you to distract him whilst a pal nips around and flanks him. So far, so by-the-numbers. The really annoying thing, is he has a one-hit kill no matter of your shield or health level. His large sword cuts directly up and along, catching you in its path if you're remotely close. Not only do you fight this guy multiple times in the story, but he clones himself into three at once near the end - meaning there's a trio of guys all one-shotting your teammates constantly. Picture the scene: You get knocked down, you call for help, a teammate arrives and gets slain too they call for help and the cycle repeats. Eventually one of you carks it in a row and you all do the whole thing again. The character itself is just boringly designed, but the levels and scenarios he's implemented in are what really drag it down.
