15 Advanced Tips To Survive In Sea Of Thieves
6. Use Harpoons To Turn Your Ship Faster
Sailing your own pirate ship either alone or with a group of friends can be a lot of fun. It’s what you’ll be spending most of your time doing in this game, after all.
However, pirate ships weren’t exactly known for their manoeuvrability, and making tight turns in the midst of a fight (especially in the bulkier galleon) can be a major hassle as you can leave yourself defenceless against an enemy’s broadside.
Putting the sails fully up can help you turn faster. But there is a much faster way to turn your ship, and it involves your trusty harpoon.
If you can manage to attach one of the harpoons to a stationery surface like a rock or the shallows of an island, you’ll be able to navigate around them by reeling in the harpoon while it’s still attached. When used strategically, this sailing strategy can give you the upper hand in any combat situation or even give a persistent pursuer the slip.
Unfortunately, this trick won’t work in open water. And be careful how much you reel the harpoon otherwise you’ll turn your ship straight into whatever it’s harpooned to.
