15 Advanced Tips To Survive In Sea Of Thieves

3. Sloops Are Faster Against The Wind

Whatever size of crew you have, Sea Of Thieves has the right ship for you. For one to two players, there’s the small but nimble sloop; three players can set sail on the mid-sized brigantine; and a full crew of four will be sailing the galleon. Each ship is balanced for each crew size and has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Although it's outgunned and outmanned by every other ship, the humble sloop has a trick up its sleeve that may surprise you: it’s the fastest ship against the wind.

Equipped with only one sail, both brigantines and galleons will easily be able to outrun a sloop when their sails are turned to catch the wind. However, if you ever find yourself in a sloop being chased by a bigger ship, the best thing you can do is turn your ship into the wind and turn your sails flat against it. That treasure-hungry galleon, being the slowest against the wind, will have no choice but to watch you comfortably sail away.

Likewise, as strange as it seems, all ships move faster against the wind when the sails are turned straight into it.
