15 Best Disney Video Games

6. The Lion King

Easily one of Disney’s best movie tie ins, The Lion King is a roaring showcase of good platforming action and a loving nod to the source material it's based on. For the majority of the game, players control Simba in rambunctious cub phase.

This is where some of the game’s best levels play out.

Even now, ‘Can’t Wait To Be King’ is a blast, a blitz of colour, music and monkey-puzzling action, while ‘The Stampede’ is, for the time, a graphical masterclass that controversially sent many PCs crashing into oblivion when it was released.

Once you play as big boy Simba, the real action kicks in, where swiping, roaring and lion hip tosses are required to take down foes. This culminates in a final boss fight – Scar, in slinky, sinister mode – that includes the game’s platforming elements but also requires you to learn some brutal moves. It’s a game of two very different halves, but one that is too vibrant to ever get bored of.
