15 Best Disney Video Games
2. Aladdin
It's hard to look at a screenshot of this game without a big, nostalgia-imbued grin spreading across your face. This is, after all, the sultan of Disney movie gaming experiences.
The game takes all the right cues from its source material - the colours and animations from Agrabah and beyond are here - but builds this around a highly-playable action adventure. Unlike other Disney gaming protagonists, there's no jumping on people's heads here and our peddler come prince in the making has a dirty great big scimitar to take down beasts and cut palace guards down to their breeches. He's also armed with throwing apples - Disney couldn't help themselves.
The unforgettable moments are plentiful, with 'The Desert' contrasting nicely with a murky trawl through the 'Cave Of Wonders', while the fiery platform scramble of 'The Escape' paves the way for 'Rug Ride': a kinetic flying carpet lava dash that The Lion King's stampede level attempted to replicate some years later. The prime culmination of this game, though, is a venture into the genie's lamp, which needs to be played with soundtrack set to eleven to be truly appreciated.
Not just the best Disney movie tie in of all time, Aladdin is one of the greatest games to ever grace a 16-bit console.
