15 Best Multiplayer Maps In Gaming History Ranked
4. Dust 2 - Counter-Strike
Rush B.
Ever since coming into the world as a Half-Life mod, Counter-Strike has taken gaming by storm and this map has been there every step of the way. With the terrorists and counter-terrorists both gunning down each other's numbers, using all manner of pistols, grenades, machine guns, and snipers.
The map's design is a masterclass in stage building. The counter-terrorists spawn between the two bombing sites while the terrorists have to choose to traverse three paths, fighting through some viscous choke-points at mid, shooting through the cramped confines of the tunnels or dodging AWP bullets on their way through Long A. Dust 2 is a perfect map for a game with a competitive atmosphere like Counter-Strike as it allows for a new strategy to be employed each round. That won't stop the Russians in the server from telling everyone to rush B though.
Then again, you can always just grab an AWP and hope for the best.
More than almost any other map, Dust 2 has endured, from the start of the franchise in 2000, all the way to Global Offensive in 2012, with the historic map remaining untouched from a design standpoint since its inception. One of the oldest maps in online gaming, but just as functional now as it was then, It's a classic.
