15 Best RPGs Of The Decade
10. Octopath Traveler
Whilst many games strive to be original and unique, sometimes we like to reminded of the older classics. Octopath Traveler is one such example; something new, but such a good throwback to the glory days of PSOne era greatness.
Rightly so, as Square Enix (then Squaresoft) were the unbridled kings of those days, with Octopath looking to remind everyone of that.
On its own merits, though, Octopath is a brilliant adventure. Instead of focusing on a single hero's adventure with a host of support characters, it manages to fit eight (hence the name) fleshed out stories in, each one different to the other.
Yet all these stories are intertwined, as it wouldn't be a Square RPG without some world-ending/conquering forces thrown into the mix. What makes it special over say, Grandia or any game with a character's subplot, is that all of the characters are integral to the plot.
It makes it less of a fetch quest or filler, but part of an overall arc to explore the vastness that Octopath Traveler holds.
