8. Gears Of War 3 - Epic Games
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Another reminder that mantra isn't a bad thing.
Gears of War continues the trend of cover-based shooting, which it perfected, all the way into this second sequel. Better looking and better playing than ever with an upgraded arsenal of weapons, Gears of War 3's gameplay kept players on their toes, minding their surroundings and keeping their trigger fingers itchy as they drool at the chance to chainsaw a locust in half, nail that active reload and destroy the Locust Queen.
Gears of War 3 was also the first Gears game to introduce four-player co-op campaign, allowing friends to end the war, conclude the story of Marcus and Dom and the rest of COG together, for better or worse.
