15 Best Video Game Acting Performances Of The Decade

14. Doug Cockle - Geralt Of Rivia (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)

Joel And Sarah
CD Projekt RED

The Witcher 3 is easily one of the best video games of all time, yet often eclipsed by the vast land of The Continent and the expansive campaign is the incredible performance of the monotoned monster slayer, Geralt.

Through the excruciating training process of the Witchers, Geralt has been stripped of his basic emotions, yet we all know that isn’t truly the case. Doug Cockle manages to brilliantly evoke those emotions, whilst still having them dialled all the way back. The inflections in his voice portray Geralt as a compassionate man stricken with the life of a Witcher. Yet it is his guarded nature that embodies the role of monster hunter, as he is constantly berated, abused, and forever getting himself on the wrong end of very pointy swords.

There is a low rumble of anger that lies beneath the surface of his performance, that extends to that of the gamer, as the grip on one of his two swords is undoubtedly drawn tighter.
