1. The Konami V Kojima Meltdown

There's a good chance no gaming company will ever have a year quite as controversial as Konami. With rumours floating around that Metal Gear creator and all-round gaming icon Hideo Kojima had been kicked from his position inside the company - having his development studio restructured in the process - the publisher set themselves on a trajectory that would lead to one of the biggest PR disasters in gaming history. If scrubbing Kojima's name from his own project wasn't enough, the company sparked the ire of fans even further by cancelling the hugely hyped Silent Hills. Not content with ruining the potential of the game for excited customers though, Konami even attempted to scrub any remains from existence by removing the experimental P.T from the Playstation store. And all that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the the indiscretions of this iconic gaming company, as new information seems to be arising every single day about the awful, 1984-esque working conditions the studio now operates under. With a focus on mobile games and a restructuring of their high level employees, the company's new direction wouldn't have been too big of a deal if they didn't set about pushing it in the most childish and unprofessional way possible.
