15 Famous Video Game Tattoos (And What They Actually Mean)

4. Kazuma Kiryu - Yakuza

A classic example of one of those 'What was I thinking?' tattoos you get with your partner -before unceremoniously splitting up a month later. Kazuma got his full-back dragon tattoo when joining the Yakuza criminal organisation. However, as soon as Kazuma comes out of prison after a ten-year sentence, the Yakuza put a bounty on his head, which must leave a bit of a bad taste each time he looks in a mirror reflecting another mirror reflecting his back (which, at least, probably doesn't happen to often). The tattoo helped earn Kazuma the nickname "the Dragon of Dojima". In Japanese mythology, dragons symbolise leadership, and embody yin and yang - the duality of light and dark. Kazuma may be one of the more underrated heroes on Sony's roster, but his tattoo often reaches out into reality, snaking its way onto the backs of the series' fans. In March 2014, Sega had a contest in which the prize was Kazuma's tattoo - worth $9000. The winner was Fari Salievski, an MMA trainer living in Australia who had to spend four hours every six weeks forsix months getting the work done. You can see the impressive final result in the picture above.
