15 Games That MUST Be On The PlayStation Classic

The significance of the PlayStation Classic's release date might be lost on many, unaware of the fact Sony's debutante made her first dance in 1994 - a full three years before it hit maturity. The console's embryonic years are somewhat lost to history, the vast majority of its initial library crushed under the weight of its latter day big hitters.

It isn't just rudimentary forays into the third-dimension washed away by their more accomplished successors; the console's small array of 2D titles were likewise swept up by the tide of technical progression.

In many respects, the extra-dimension arrived too early for gaming. Just as 2D was hitting its peak, impatience saw it consigned to history. Rayman proved why it was such a mistake. Michel Ancel's limbless wonder looked and played flawlessly next to a host of early-adopting 3D games stressing the processor. It'd take another 16 years for the market to get over its obsession with graphical fidelity before the designer could go horizontal again with Rayman Origins.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
