5. Sam Fisher - Splinter Cell Series
There's no denying that Sam was awesome when he made his debut back on the PS2 and original Xbox, but he really came into his own on the current gen. Despite the fact that Double Agent and Conviction strayed from the traditional Splinter Cell formula, Sam still felt like a badass and with Ubisoft's latest instalment, Blacklist, even though Michael Ironside was no longer voicing Fisher (which really took something away from the character). Getting back to the series' roots and donning the goggles to become the ultimate super-spy was a thrilling experience the stealth elements of the series made Sam an awesome character and the interactive interrogation sequences in Conviction made Sam even more threatening and just plain cool. Hiding in the shadows waiting to take down unsuspecting enemies only served to compound how great it was being Sam Fisher. It's just a shame they lost Michael Ironside for the latest game, as his iconic voice acting simply made the character, but he still definitely deserves a place in the list.
High Point For This Character: Even though Conviction was by no means the best game in the series, playing as a Sam Fisher gone rogue and off the grid created some amazing gameplay sequences, with the highlights being the interactive interrogation scenes, slamming your target's body into all manner of scenic hazards like mirrors and surfaces.
