15 'Horror' Video Games That Totally Failed To Scare Anyone

7. F.E.A.R

First Encounter Assault Recon €“ or for those unfamiliar with the series €“ the game about the creepy looking ghost girl from The Grudge - was released back in the early 2000s. The game sees players take on the role of an unnamed Special Forces officer with superhuman abilities, tasked with the neutralisation of potentially dangerous supernatural forces. Unfortunately, the game itself takes place in a nebulous vacuum of endless corridors, and the gameplay revolves around shooting at soldiers and ducking for cover. Despite the supernatural presents in F.E.A.R, you spend most of your time engaging in utterly mundane skirmishes and accomplishing completely ordinary objectives. Occasionally, you€™ll catch a glimpse of something interesting, something strange and otherworldly, but then it€™s right back to throwing grenades, scouring for health packs and trying not to get your head blown off. Worst still, every level in the game is so painstaking arduous and uninteresting that you€™ll actually find yourself relishing the supernatural elements; instead of being scared, you€™ll look forward to encountering a couple of monsters because at least they€™re a change of pace.
