15 'Horror' Video Games That Totally Failed To Scare Anyone

13. Silent Hill: Homecoming

It pains me to think that Silent Hill: Homecoming is part of the same series as Silent Hill 2. In fact, it pains to think about any Silent Hill game post Silent Hill 4: The Room, because everything that has come out since has been one giant disappointment after the next. Downpour was just laughable, and Shattered Memories wasn€™t much better, but the worst offender has to be Silent Hill: Homecoming. Not only does the game straddle you with a secondary escort character for half the game, but it unnecessarily prioritises combat over the more unnerving, psychological aspects of the previous games. Silent Hill should be about isolation, not killing everything that moves; it should be about twisted symbolism, subtle details and world building, not battling endless hordes of vaguely creepy monsters in a somewhat unsettling environment for no real reason.
