15 Hotly-Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games Coming In 2017

1. Super Mario Odyssey

The next truly momentous first party game, Super Mario Odyssey is shaking up the core foundations of what the character even 'is'. Which is to say, for the last 30 years, one of the most famous brothers in gaming history was human, yet now he's off to visit New Donk City; the first full-on city environment we've ever seen him inhabit, replete with taxis, a far larger and in proportion civilian population, and scores of skyscrapers to clamber about on.

All this begs the question: Is Mario a different race to humans? It's all very 'Homer Simpson goes 3D' in that Treehouse of Horror episode.

It looks like there'll be tons more levels alongside to keep things fresh, and in terms of new abilities, Mario's hat is now a character in itself, able to aid with platforming by creating footholds, before being flung at enemies and caught like a boomerang.

Whether these shake-ups will be enough to create something as landmark as Super Mario Galaxy, we'll have to wait and see, but so far, Odyssey looks incredibly promising.
