15 Iconic PlayStation Franchises - Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Twisted Metal

Absolutely huge in the PS1 era, Twisted Metal's brand of insane vehicular carnage provided thrills and violence that very few other developers could pull off at the time. An intense sense of speed and destruction was inherent to the series' success, and for a while, this was all it needed to keep afloat against the increasing competition. But as video games became more and more sophisticated, the Twisted Metal series kind of got lost in the transition. Even with a full reboot on the PS3 in 2012, the antiquated racer was unable to capitalise on its second wind and instead proved to be a rather middling release; not quite the return to form that many fans were expecting. Which is a shame, because a game like Twisted Metal could absolutely kill in the modern video gaming climate. Rocket League has shown us that the public wants these oddball driving experiences, and Twisted Metal absolutely needs to step up and give gamers the anarchy they've been craving for years.
