15 Insanely Underrated PS4 & Xbox One Games You Must Play

5. Sunset Overdrive

The first of two Insomniac games on this list, 2014's Sunset Overdrive was a casualty of the then-failing Xbox One, unable to find an audience when it was put out exclusively on Microsoft's machine. The poor marketing didn't help much either, with the game's ads drawing on cliches and self-aware stereotypes that made every player in a ten mile radius cringe with second-hand embarrassment.

But in between all that mixed marketing lies a truly excellent game, and one of the wildest sandboxes you can experience on current gen consoles. Bringing the fun back to the forefront of its open world, Sunset Overdrive plays more like a Tony Hawk's than it does GTA, as you grind over a beautifully imagined city shooting colourful monsters in the face with guns that fire teddy-bear rockets.

Because movement is key in Sunset Overdrive, the gameplay becomes all about pulling off insane combos inbetween grinding and back-flipping throughout the game's sandbox. Play the title like a standard shooter and you'll be disappointed, but throw yourself headfirst into the release's agile parkour and you're well on your way to experiencing one of the most underrated games of the past few years.
