15 Insanely Underrated PS4 & Xbox One Games You Must Play

13. Wolfenstein: The New Order

Every year I see the same thing: "Brand new game x is the BEST single-player shooter in YEARS".

I don't know why we all collectively forget about the great single-player first-person shooters that come out every year, but it's like our brains get reset about every six months or so. As recently as Titanfall 2, critics were proclaiming that the game was the first in years to prove that single-player shooter campaigns could still be great - forgetting that they had said the same thing a few months prior when the equally excellent Doom hit shelves.

And this collective amnesia when it comes to quality single-player FPS games is the only excuse I can think of as to why Wolfenstein: The New Order hasn't been talked about more since its release in 2014. Having the balls to ship without a multiplayer component, The New Order's surprisingly excellent narrative and superbly visceral shooting proved that the genre could be more than just corridor firefights and scripted set-pieces.

Hell, we probably wouldn't have had games like Doom at all if Bethesda's first classic franchise reboot wasn't so successful, so you owe it to yourself to go back and give Wolfenstein a try.
