15 Most Anticipated Video Games Of 2017 - Ranked
14. Tekken 7
One of the interesting and foundation-shaking Tekken sequels since part four removed the side-step and forced you to swap stances with opponents, T7 is taking a few pages from Mortal Kombat's playbook.
First up there's a dynamic story mode that mixes pre-rendered and in-engine cutscenes to bridge fights and keep the pace up, Street Fighter's Akuma is being retconned into the narrative as the source of the Mishima bloodline's Devil Gene, and there'll even be some awesome screen-filling special attack animations to trigger.
This marks the first appearance of the legendary franchise on current hardware, though it comes after Street Fighter V was a complete featureless mess, and Mortal Kombat X was just... fine. Tekken has long since been the king of the fighting realm in almost every respect, and with Dead or Alive also falling by the wayside, it is about damn time for a premiere, accessible fighter to dominate the online landscape.
Also note, Tekken 7 has been out in arcades for quite some time, meaning there'll be a ton of consumer feedback and balancing accrued from literal months of consumer testing, assumedly ensuring the console versions are immaculate come June 2nd.
