15 Most Disappointing Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
2. Duke Nukem Forever
Fifteen years is an awfully long time, especially when discussing the development cycle of a video game. But, that's how long Duke Nukem Forever took to get made. Originally announced back in 1997, Forever repeatedly resurfaced across twelve years, with developer 3D Realms affirming that it would be released when it was done. Before then however, 3D Realms were closed down and caught up in a lawsuit between Take-Two, who sued them over their failure to finish development. Duke Nukem Forever, 'the game that never was', looked doomed. Then, Gearbox Software, supported by 2K Games, picked up development and finished it, finally releasing it on June 10th 2011. Had it aged like a fine wine? Of course not. With awful controls, stupidly long loading times and dated design, Duke Nukem Forever flat-out sucked. The linearity of the game was heavily criticised, especially in regard to Duke Nukem 3D's open levels which encouraged exploration. Above all else, it was a below average shooter which had barely any value. Next time a game is in development for fifteen years, it might be better just to let it go.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
