15 Most Disappointing Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

1. Resident Evil 6

Many would argue that Resident Evil has been on a downward spiral since the first three titles, despite part four being one of the best games ever made. The shift to a third-person shooter moved away from the series' claustrophobic, stationary camera roots, moving it into the future. Despite the quality of the fourth instalment, some fans cite it as the beginning of the end for modern day Resident Evil. Resi 4 is absolutely not to blame for the abomination that is Resident Evil 6 though. Almost every survival horror element is stripped away here (despite the series' vital role in creating the genre), leaving an empty, tedious third-person shooter which flat out makes no sense. It all starts off so well too. Leon's campaign (most likely, the first anybody will tackle) offers hope by incorporating elements from the earlier games. The atmosphere is tense, ammo is scarce and it actually features real zombies. Alright, by the end, Leon is fighting a giant zombie dinosaur, but it's still the highlight of the game. Jake's campaign (a new character to the series, only notable for being involved in the most obvious plot twist ever) is uninventive while Chris' levels are a series of boring gunfights which play like a bad Gears Of War rip-off. Full of quick-time events and few horror elements, survival horror goes completely out the window throughout. Resi 6's most disappointing element is that the series deserves better; spin-off Revelations was released on 3DS earlier in the year and it outclassed this main iteration in every regard. Had that been released under the Resident Evil 6 title, very few fans would have complained. Instead, Capcom released this mess, and mass disappointment followed. It's unlikely that Resident Evil 7 will replicate the phenomenal sales that this game somehow achieved. Agree? Disagree? Are there any massively disappointing games that should have made the cut? I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
