15 Most Disappointing Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
11. Destiny
Bungie's exceptional work with the Halo series has turned them into gaming legends - when they split from Microsoft and decided to go independent, everybody was clamouring to see what the team would come up with next. Destiny had been in Bungie's thoughts for a while at that point it seems (thanks to a teasing Easter Egg in Halo 3: ODST) and with such a long development cycle the game should have been bursting with new ideas, exciting concepts and gorgeous, stunning sci-fi worlds. Well, at least Bungie nailed the world design. The rest is still up in the air and that's where the disappointment in Destiny lies. As an MMO, it's designed to be played in groups, yet the tools to join and communicate with groups were simply not available at launch, bizarrely. Those in search of single player content were left majorly disappointed too. Destiny's story is short and not-so-sweet; the story is pretty much non-existent and the missions are very simplistic with repetitive elements. Truth be told, fans were right to expect more from the guys that brought us Halo. Bungie absolutely nailed certain elements of Destiny but too many other areas are lacking. The single player content is offensively slim and the high-level grind that the game introduces simply drove players away. It's a game that will improve and grow as time goes on - right now though, many regard Destiny as a disappointing flop that did not live up to it's 'next-gen' tag whatsoever.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
