6. Modern Warfare Remaster Gets DLC At Over Full Price
It was very obvious from the start that Activision was trying to nickle and dime their fanbase with the Modern Warfare remaster, as they locked it behind a massive paywall. They knew fans loved the game however, and they knew they would buy it.
Normally, when a game is remastered, all of its prior DLC is remastered and included as well. That, or it is simply left out and not talked about. But when it came to Modern Warfare, Activision had a new plan entirely. They were going to remaster the DLC, and rerelease it, for a price.
Activision released the Variety Map Pack DLC back in April, and released it at the price of $15. When the Variety Map Pack was released for Modern Warfare back in 2008, it cost $10. Activision not only was charging for a 9-year-old DLC, but charging more than they originally did 9 years ago. The fan outrage could not be contained.
People were pissed, and rightfully so, seeing it as nothing more than an unnecessary cash grab. If another Call of Duty remaster is ever announced, which almost seems inevitable, hopefully the same greedy mistakes will not be made.
