15 Most Epic Video Game Boss Battles Of 2016 (So Far)
3. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - Rafe
Uncharted may go down as one of the best video game series' in history, and final boss, Rafe, will certainly be remembered too. The showdown with Rafe plays more like an interactive cutscene than it does a full on battle; at first you simply have the option of two buttons that dodge left or right, and then the next phase, melee is added in.
This is one of the battles though where atmosphere is everything.
You're on a burning ship as your brother lays dying, while Rafe wants the gold that lines the ground to himself. As he's trying to kill you with a sword, the fire spreads and the music in the background becomes more intense as he jeers at you and revels in his own hatred for Drake. It really feels epic and the emotion from Rafe is superb, giving the confrontation real weight.
While Rafe's actual presence in the game could be argued as a bit of a letdown, this battle and the atmosphere preceding it were phenomenal.
