15 Most Overrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)
5. Final Fantasy XV
Over ten years in the making, nobody thought that Final Fantasy XV would ever turn out to be a good game after such a long wait, never mind live up to a decade's worth of hype.
Somehow though, the sequel avoided being another Duke Nukem Forever or The Last Guardian and received a warm critical reception when it realised last year, being a hit with both fans and journalists alike.
The reviews weren't entirely wrong either, with the title's overhauled combat system and ridiculously endearing bromances making for a pretty good time. The problem, however, is that FFXV is so front-loaded that everything after the halfway mark starts to undo the great things that came before. Switching from open world to linear levels, the game becomes way more restrictive once the story begins to take focus.
There's still some good moments to be found in this latter half, but they're far more infrequent than the fun that's to be had in the first ten hours or so, and it definitely puts a dampener on the experience as a whole.
