13. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, a Wii re-release, takes place upon the bodies of two giant, statuesque beings, who after tiring from ancient battle, become motionless and eventually give way to life.
Combat is in real time, and revolves around using abilities whilst being in specific positions around the enemy. You can also use your sword to see into the future. Shulk (the main character) will occasionally have a prophecy, which can often help you decide how to tackle fighting certain enemies, or whether or not to fight them at all. It's all pretty cool.
The issue was that there just wasn’t a huge amount of interest. It sold well, but it only really sold to a pre-existing audience. Most of the people who bought it either wanted to revisit it, or simply missed out the first time due to a limited print run on the Wii. It didn’t really do anything to pique the interest of anyone who wasn’t already keen to pick it up.
And that’s without considering the fact that it was one of the first “New” 3DS exclusive titles. People were unlikely to run out and drop over £200 on a console that was only a small upgrade on the one they already had, for a game which had previously been released.
