13. That Building That Looks Slightly Like Master Chief
If you've been living under a rock for a decade, you'll wonder just how Bungie got so great at building sci-fi worlds. The Halo series is one of gaming's finest and without it's success, Bungie would never have had the experience or confidence to go out and build an entire new universe from scratch. Halo's influence can be seen throughout Destiny, although thankfully, the game shies away from being a complete Halo clone. As seen in the aforementioned Halo series, Bungie love a good Easter Egg; Destiny itself was even teased through an Easter Egg in Halo 3: ODST. There's plenty of references and nods in Destiny but appropriately the Master Chief appearance is the one that blew up the internet. Well, it may not be the real thing, but you have to admit that the above building looks eerily familiar. It's a neat nod to the past from Bungie which almost definitely acts as a farewell to their most memorable character.
12. There Is No Justice In The Crucible
There's many great mysteries surrounding Destiny but one of the biggest is the Crucible loot system. Loot is rewarded to players after the match but there doesn't seem to be any real reason for how it is distributed; it seems entirely random. One thing is for sure though; it definitely doesn't seem to be based on skill. Even players who finish bottom of the team in a Crucible Match can find themselves rewarded, probably to help even the competition. Of course, this can lead to some frustration. Players who top the team and win games constantly can find themselves with next to nothing while the guy who stood still for five minutes before dying a record amount of times can walk out with a Legendary Engram. Believe us, it happens. It seems that Bungie fully embraces the idea that there's little justice in the world; why else would they torture us with the randomised Crucible loot?
11. The Satisfying Feeling Of Scoring A Sweet Headshot With The Sniper
As already pointed out, Bungie have a proven track record in great games with the Halo series. Not only was Halo rightfully lauded for it's engaging world, the combat was regularly touted as one of the best FPS experiences available on console. Bungie's knack for making great gunfights shines through in Destiny too; the repetition would be a lot more evident if the gunplay wasn't this much fun. Some of the best examples of this can be found in the Crucible. After all, who doesn't like to prove to the world just how good they are at putting virtual bullets in virtual heads? The Sniper Rifle was a key weapon in Halo with the ability to eliminate opponents from across the map in a single, well-placed shot; thankfully, Destiny's Sniper Rifle is equally as satisfying to use. Certain maps like First Light have turned into sniper warzones and there's no better feeling than landing an inch-perfect shot, moments before the enemy does the same to you.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
