BS The Legend of Zelda was the first Zelda game to be created for the Japanese only, Satellaview. The Satellaview was an add-on to the SNES which allowed users to download content from satellite broadcasts.

BS The Legend of Zelda is essentially a remake of the original The Legend of Zelda with a slightly different overworld layout and completely different dungeons. You play as either a boy or a girl depending on the gender you picked as your avatar in BS-X, a cartridge that came with the system.

The old man would occasionally chime in to talk to you with the power of voice acting. He would discuss the plot of the game and even give you hints.

The weirdest thing about the game is that you could only play it at certain times. Think of the Satellaview as a television, you can only play games at certain times like how you can only watch certain programs at specific times on a TV.

The game was so popular that it got a couple of sequels, the first being BS The Legend of Zelda: MAP2 which is equivalent to the first games Master Quest.
