Bioshock 2 was always going to have a tough time living up to its predecessor, but the intro to this sequel started off the plot in a major (and shocking) way. Beginning from the point of view of a Big Daddy named Delta, the player gains a different perspective as you wander through his daily activities. However, at the end of the sequence, you're introduced to Sofia Lamb who separates you from your Little Sister, seemingly takes control of your character, and forces Delt to shoot himself.

This entire introduction not only lets players know just how despicable Lamb is, but also served as a shockingly brutal opening that let players know how important the connection between Alpha and Eleanor is for the game's story. It also offered a sense of pathos for Delta, which was definitely absent with the first Bioshock's protagonist.

You may end up surviving the opening, but that doesn't diminish how out-of-left-field and surprising this first cutscene was during that first playthrough.
