16 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Video Games

9. Will Mirror's Edge Catalyst Fulfil The Original Game's Potential?

Release Date: May 24 2008's Mirror Edge was broadly acclaimed by critics for its unique approach to combat and movement, though it was also generally held that the game didn't quite reach its potential due to linear level design and a forgettable story. This long-awaited prequel, then, attempts to address these problems, focusing on an open-world environment and delving deep into the past of protagonist Faith. Will this second go-around manage to capitalise on the evident potential of the original. After all, considering that this is basically a reboot of a game that wasn't a massive hit, how many properties ever get a do-over? Prediction: DICE games are rarely perfect, but this should be a more refined tweak of what came before, as long as the open-world is readily populated and doesn't feel empty or piecemeal. The first game averaged 80 on MetaCritic, so expect Catalyst to score marginally higher, around the 82-83 mark.
