14. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

Technically PlayerUnknown's is already released, though it remains in Early Access on Steam until Brendan Greene's studio can iron out all the kinks. Thankfully, it's getting a console release on Xbox One later in 2017, but remains one of those 'next big thing' games that'll only continue to gather steam.

Framed as a Battle Royale/Hunger Games-influenced deathmatch where 100 players parachute into a gigantic island, the aim of the game is to scavenge for equipment, armour and items as other combatants drop all around you. Hiding, going on the offensive, forming alliances and breaking them off is the order of the day - and that's only within the first half hour of play.

Battlegrounds is ludicrously intense - possibly the most engaging experience gaming has produced so far if you make it into the top 10. Once this gets to console, it will blow up in a truly landmark way.
