16 Severely Underrated Video Games That Deserve A Second Chance

11. Yakuza 3 & 4

Let's make this clear; somehow the unbelievably brilliant Yakuza series is one of the biggest franchises in Japan, yet for some reason still hasn't made a dint in the US market - however if you have the time to check it out you'll have another runner for one of the best games of all time. The latter two especially are just that good. Once advertised essentially as 'GTA goes Eastern', those who bought into that misguided campaign realised what was on offer was far more of a brawler with Metal Gear-style cutscenes, overblown and loveable characters plus a smattering of killer plot-twists to tie everything together. Now that the fourth instalment is out (with enough fan demand to get Sony to break and bring the fifth across later this year) you might think you're too late to the party, but with both Y3 and 4 offering plenty of expository dialogue and flashback cutscene prompts from the main menu, you can get stuck into the perfected brawler-meets-RPG gameplay and jaw-dropping narrative whenever you like. Honestly, there are few games as feature-packed with side missions and things to do as these open-world titles, and even if you opt for the cheaper part three you're still getting a stupendous bang for your buck.
