16 Severely Underrated Video Games That Deserve A Second Chance

10. Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Ubisoft's pre-Assassin's Creed creep-a-thon was the go-to franchise for stealth kills and gadgetry... until they showed hero Sam Fisher as a punch-throwing hobo rather than the leather-clad night vision goggle-wearing badass he'd been in the past. It pretty much stopped the franchise dead in its tracks, burying it so much that fans never really recovered, despite 2013's reboot of sorts being a solid entry in both the series and genre. Switching out the pipes of Michael Ironside as Fisher wasn't the best move to regain footing of course, but TV's Eric Johnson did a fine job, giving Sam a gritty walled-off persona that eventually began to crack across the course of the game. Throw in a myriad of new animations, contextual kills allowing for a variety of approaches and a 24-style story topped off with an actor from the show himself Carlo Rota playing the villain, and Blacklist was a perfect execution on the spy genre from a development team who knew exactly what they had to do to get back in the good books.
